I always wanted to work with him one day. I have great respect for him. And I consider him probably the best specialist in the history of F1, but a real legend.


I`m kind of honored that I have the opportunity to be next to him in the paddock, even though I`m his rival. But I`m glad that during our careers our paths crossed - I was part of his path, and he was part of mine - because I was always competing with his cars.


I actually came very close to joining Red Bull a couple of times. We even talked several times, because not only Christian Horner and Helmut Marko were present at those meetings, sometimes Adrian also came. We have always treated each other with great respect - we will see what happens in the future.


Alonso was asked what he thought about Adrian Newey`s possible move to Aston Martin:


This question needs to be asked of Lawrence Stroll. I can say that we are very pleased with the work of our technical department. And Adrian is either the best or one of the best in the business, but such a transition must also suit the team. Here the decision depends more on Lawrence than on Adrian. Anyway, now we are mainly focused on working with our car - we have a lot to improve at the Miami Grand Prix.
